Do data silos affect storage space? How so?
Asked 4 years ago
Apparently data silos affect storage space. This is something I don't really understand. How exactly do data silos affect storage space? Whose storage space does it affect? Any explanation would be highly appreciated.

Yes, data silos affect storage space. The reason is that data silos involve hoarding information. When data is siloed, the same information is stored up in compartments and different databases. The lack of teamwork and collaboration among groups in an organisation will lead to a situation where individual groups have to source information and store them. This would lead to inconsistencies between departmental data and also multiplicity in the same sets of data. And as the data are multiplied, they form a redundant effect in the databases, hence some of the data become less useful, less accurate and unneeded. This will cause unnecessary occupancy of storage spaces by needless data. When the relevant data are stored in one place, it makes the other spaces free from unnecessary use.
