How are data silos a danger to my business?
Asked 4 years ago
I'm having trouble understanding data silos. I know they're not ideal, but why? What makes data silos so dangerous to my business? In what ways can they have a negative impact on my business? Any response would be appreciated.

Data silos could pose a threat to your business, because they may hinder the prompt and effective passage of information from one compartment to another. The danger of hampering the easy flow of information is that management won't have enough data to make relevant and informed decisions, and this could be a problem for the company. Another danger is that customers' information may be inconsistent within two groups in the organisation. For example, the personal details of a customer may be correct with the sales team while the customer care unit does not have accurate information about the customer. This will make it difficult for customer care to help the customer.
