What effect do data silos have on company culture?

Hi everyone. Since data silos are controlled by a particular group and isolated from the majority of the company, I was wondering if this could extend to company culture. Do data silos affect company culture in this way? Do they affect company culture in any other ways?

Data silos usually hamper the smooth running of business activities in an organisation. This is due to the problem of a segregated workforce and the isolation of departments. The company culture of efficiency for instance can be disturbed when certain information cannot be accessed by a particular department of an organisation. Communication is an essential part of organisational culture, but with data silos, communication is not effective and this can disrupt the company's normal processes.
