Does role-based access control through KM prevent unauthorized access?

Asked 2 years ago

Having a knowledge management system in place will save my HR team a lot of time and also allow the organization as a whole to fully utilize its intellectual capital. My issue with this is that I do not want employees to have access to information that is not relevant to them or meant for them. I still want them to be able to access and share relevant information amongst each other.

Yes, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) through KM does prevent unauthorized access. Users are granted permission depending on their role and authority in the system. They can only visualize information that is relevant to their job role. Therefore, with RBAC, you can ensure that only those who need access to the data to complete their job duties will have access. Hence, the company data remains confidential and restricted even within the organizational hierarchy.
