How does the knowledge management matrix work?

Asked 2 years ago

I have a firm understanding of the knowledge management cycle, but I had no idea there was a knowledge management matrix! How does the KM Matrix work?

The knowledge management matrix helps organizations map out their knowledge assets. It is often used to help identify knowledge gaps, optimize processes, and improve performance. The matrix has four quadrants:

  1. Internal
  2. External
  3. Institutional
  4. Individual

Each quadrant represents a different type of knowledge. By mapping out these different types of knowledge, organizations can better understand where they need to focus their efforts to improve the overall performance and meet future goals.

The knowledge management matrix is seen as a parameter to evaluate the success of KM strategies. Organizations use the KM matrix to deeply study and analyze their knowledge management systems and achievements at each phase. It works as a result finder and a line of control to track the KM processes and ensure that they align with the KM objectives.
