How do I set up a Nuke license server in AWS?

Asked 2 years ago

I need to set up a Nuke license server on AWS for my team to be able to work within their Amazon Nimble Studio. The issue is that I don’t know where to start or how to set up a license server. I thought I could set it up myself quickly so that the artists could run their applications and be able to have access to the license files.

You must create a license server IAM role and an Amazon S3 bucket for license files. Here is a simple three-step process to help you achieve this task:

  1. Launch an Instance: Complete the steps in the "Launch an instance using defined parameters" tutorial in the Amazon EC2 User Guide for Windows Instances.
  2. Connect With DCV: Modify the DCV setup on your instance to allow you to connect with the DCV client.
  3. Install the Foundry Licensing Utility: Ensure to request the VM Enable license file, which is a license for a Virtual Machine (VM). Now upload the installer to S3 and copy files from Amazon S3 to the license server instance. Redeem your licenses. Add a license server component to your studio and launch profiles to use your Nuke license. Finally, troubleshoot the Foundry Licensing Utility to start.
