What are Go Links and how to create them?

Create short, memorable links for important information

What are Go Links?

“Go Links” enables the creation of short and intuitive URLs using the format go/link.

The idea behind Go Links is that everyone working in a large company, small team or single users, will be able to simplify their search experience and find the info they need by assigning memorable names to specific links.

Creating Go Links to your most visited websites keeps teams collaborative and frees up more time to focus on getting work done instead of searching for resources.

Who can create a Go Link?

Anyone can create a Go Link! To get started using Go Links, you need to first install the Unleash Chrome Extension from the store here.

Creating a Go Link

There are a couple of ways to create Go Links. Once created, they are saved to the Go Links view on the Unleash Sidebar.

Web and Desktop App

  • Visit the Go Link page and click the “Create Go Link” button OR
  • Hit CMD + K to open the Command Bar and click the "Create Go Link” button OR
  • Paste your valid URL into the Search Bar and click the suggested action button “Create a new go/link for “https://example.com””.

Launcher

  • Paste your valid URL link in the Search Bar and click the suggested action button “Create a new go/link for “https://example.com””.

Using Go Links

  • Type your Go Link in your web browsers URL bar (e.g. go/tasks) and you'll automatically be redirected to the corresponding URL.
  • Enter the Go Link name into the Unleash Search Bar and click on it to be redirected to the corresponding URL

Editing Go Links

  • You can edit or delete an existing link by clicking on the ellipse menu of the Go Link
  • Previous versions of edited links will be available for search within the Go Links page. In addition, edited links will also work when typing them in the browser. For example, if go/example (www.example.com) changed to go/examplesandmore, typing go/example in to the browser will still be redirected to www.example.com.

Unlisted Go Links

  • By default, all links will be listed for workspace users in the Go Links page on Unleash.
  • Link creators will be able to “unlist” links. In this case, Go Links will available for the user who unlisted the link (and visible to the workspace owner) but will not be visible on the Go Links page nor appear in search results for the rest of the workspace. The workspace owner can also “unlist” a Go Link. In this case, the “unlisted” link will be available for the link creator.
